If only a sliver of this man’s boundless imagination rubbed off on the rest of us. His two-story treehouse, complete with a functioning elevator, defies ordinary. He opens his quirky spaces to Airbnb guests not just for income, but to keep the joy of meeting fascinating people alive.

Because let’s face it why book a place to stay when you can book a story worth telling?

Want to stay in a treehouse?

Ever thought of sleeping in a yurt? Or maybe spending the night in a fully decked-out man-cave?

Dan, an Airbnb host with a flair for the unconventional, has taken hospitality to new heights delivering an overnight experience that’s anything but ordinary.

Now enjoying retirement, Dan channels his inventive mind and builder’s skillset into crafting one-of-a-kind spaces that draw visitors from across the globe.

His ever-growing collection of Airbnb rentals is the result of years of hands-on passion and the masterpiece is still very much in progress.

Now, this is a man cave.

Dan’s inaugural creation was his personal sanctuary a fully kitted-out man cave. Renting it out hadn’t even crossed his mind until a friend casually floated the idea of listing it on Airbnb.

He took the leap and was floored by the overwhelming response.

“Well… much to my surprise and glee, I had lots of people that wanted to rent it,” Dan shared with Tiny House Giant Journey.

A miniature town called “Danville”

Naturally, Dan christened it with his own name after all, it was his handiwork from the ground up. Riding the wave of success from his man cave, he didn’t stop there.

His next ambitious vision? Constructing an entire mini-town inside a repurposed airplane hangar. Sounds a bit far-fetched, doesn’t it?

Yet the result is utterly enchanting. Visitors flock from every corner to host weddings and celebrations in this whimsical village. Featuring its own pub and a cozy movie theatre, “Danville” is a pint-sized paradise brimming with character.

Wanna hang with alpacas and goats?

Dan’s got you covered. His third handcrafted marvel? A breathtaking yurt. Warm, inviting, and utterly unique, it offers guests an immersive escape they won’t find just anywhere.

That’s when it clicked Dan wasn’t just building spaces. He was curating experiences, each one crafted to make every stay unforgettable.

Greeting the world without leaving home.

Dan shared with Tiny House Giant Journey what fuels his passion for crafting these one-of-a-kind Airbnb stays.

“What I discovered,” he explained, “was that I was meeting some of the most fascinating people on the planet. Rather than hopping on a plane, the world comes to me. I get to learn about new cultures, hear stories from faraway places it becomes this rich exchange that suits me perfectly. I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to do this.”

Why not build a treehouse?

Dan’s next undertaking was nothing short of extraordinary a whimsical two-story treehouse, fully equipped with its own elevator. Adding a touch of artistry, a local painter transformed the elevator’s exterior to resemble a towering tree stump, seamlessly blending fantasy with functionality.

And it has a hot tub!

This treehouse boasts a hot tub unlike any other crafted from a salvaged section of an airplane engine. Guests can sink into the steamy, 101-degree waters and perch their wine glass on the custom center table, designed for unwinding in style.

For a touch of rustic whimsy, there’s also an outdoor shower fashioned from a pair of repurposed sheep watering troughs. And if the weather turns, a sheltered seating nook offers the perfect refuge to relax and listen to the rain.

The Tiki hut creates a perfect spot to chill and relax while grilling out.

He thought of everything.

Every corner of this space reflects Dan’s deep devotion and inventive spirit. His craftsmanship radiates heart, imagination, and a rare kind of magic that turns ideas into immersive realities.

“We tried to make it as comfortable as we could and still have the feel of being in a tree,” Dan shared with Tiny House Giant Journey.

Repurposing old into something truly special.

Dan’s latest venture is a rental space steeped in ‘Woodstock’ nostalgia. A tribute to free spirits and flower power, it invites guests to spend the night in a vintage ’64 Volkswagen bus.

“You get to sleep in a ’64 Volkswagen bus,” Dan revealed to Tiny House Giant Journey.
