It was incredibly unusual back in the late ’90s to have a band known previously for their power chords and brash (albeit melodic) punk rock put out a soft acoustic guitar song.
“Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” became the go-to “looking back and remembering the good times as our lives change” anthem. I’d even argue it held that title until Vitamin C released the much more opaque “Graduation (Friends Forever).”
